"It is a common cry of the Psalms that God would awaken us (Psalm 57:8-11). If we are not awake, that is not good. Revelation 3:1-2 says, “I know your works. You have the reputation of being alive, but you are dead. Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die.” We will know that we are awake if we desire to see God’s glory and do his will. The truth is that we don’t do this perfectly and so we can always ask God for this—and we should desire this (1 John 2:3; Philippians 2:12-13; Matthew 7:15)."
