about

This is a song of declaration that our lives are in the hands of God and that we are glad that this is the case. We can sing confidently and live confident lives for Christ despite difficult circumstances. We want to live as wise God-fearing people and I think singing this as a congregation makes a lot of sense. If there were no other people, this would be more difficult. It is as we live together and work together on this that we grow and also celebrate success. I hope this song can bless you or your community. An explanation of the exact meaning behind this song as well as supporting biblical verses can be found here: citylight.church/music/2018/11/29/father-of-goodness-prince-of-peace-theology/

‘Prince of Peace’ is CityLight Music’s second recording. It was recorded in 2018 at a women’s worship night in which the women of CityLight gathered to worship God and record songs written primarily by the women of the church.

lyrics

Father of goodness
Only you satisfy
Your glory and graciousness
Furthers the wise

What can sustain us?
In all we pursue
You delight in righteousness
You renew the used

Our hearts are satisfied
In your hands
You breathe meaning into life
With your plans
Nothing in this world
Could ever contend
With the lord who sees it all
Beginning to end

Father forgive us
For fleeting attempts
Your constant graciousness
Compels our repent

Sign your commandments
Upon our hearts
Fear of our holy lord
Will set us apart

He is the final judge
He knows all that is done
Injustice will not stand
The world will pass away

and light will make its claim
Expelling death and pain
the world will know His name
and Jesus Christ will reign
